Lower Back Pain

& How to relieve it ;-)

Can Chiropractors help lower back pain?
Yes! We have literally thousands of patients who have had tremendous help with lower back pain in my office. Many studies confirm that chiropractic care is the safest, lowest-cost, most-effective treatment for lower back pain anywhere in the world.
When should I see a chiropractor better for lower back pain?
At any sign of pain a chiropractor is a good choice to see for help. It is true that some pains are just a simple muscle strain and chiropractic may not help it. But Doctors of Chiropractic are thoroughly trained to know the difference between a muscle issue and a misalignment or subluxation causing the pain.
Is a massage or chiropractor better for lower back pain?
Some people may want to start with massage and see if it helps. Massage is almost never going to make the problem worse. Others may want a thorough biomechanical analysis to find out if the problem is deeper than just muscle tension.
Are Chiropractors bad for your back?
Chiropractic, done properly, is never bad for your back. Keeping alignment healthy and all the complex neuro-spinal systems working optimally is always good for your back!

We do get the question a lot, and I do take care of a lot of patients with low back pain. So I wanna talk to you a little bit about what we do when someone presents with low back pain.

The first thing that we do is we sit down and we get a thorough history to find out what exactly the problem is, how bad the pain is, how long you've had it, what may have caused it, what traumas might you have had or did it just show up yesterday? So we wanna figure out how it's affecting you exactly first, then we're gonna do a very thorough examination, we're gonna stand you up and look thoroughly at your posture. Could your posture be contributing to this? Is it just simply you need to do some stretches or some exercises to correct your posture? Or is there an underlying problem like a misalignment or what we call a subluxation? A subluxation of your spine is where a bone has misaligned, and it can pinch or irritate the nerves and the whole nervous system of the body. If there is a subluxation, we need to analyze it and correct it.

So in most cases, we're gonna get X-rays to look at the condition of the spine, we're gonna figure out exactly what's causing it. If you need a referral to another type of provider, a physical therapist or an orthopedist, we'll definitely let you know that. But if it's a chiropractic problem, we'll get the analysis and the examination and the x-rays if needed, and a posture photograph to digitize and thoroughly look at your problem. And then most cases if we need to, we'll treat that day. Otherwise we'll see you the next day or soon thereafter, and we'll let you know exactly what the problem is and what it takes to not only get rid of the pain, but hopefully to correct it so that you never have it again and so you can get back to living the life you wanna live as healthy as possible. Hope that helps.
